Why do some patients need an LED Adapter?
Some phone models aren’t compatible with the ScanBox Pro because the camera and flash are positioned too far apart. This results in insufficient lighting inside the mouth, making it difficult to capture a proper scan.
The LED Adapter solves this by providing built-in LED lighting that evenly illuminates the mouth during scanning. This ensures consistent, high-quality scans regardless of the phone your patient uses.
The result is a simple, streamlined workflow: one ScanBox Pro for all patients, with an LED adapter only when required.

How to use the LED Adapter
Getting LED Adapters
How can you get LED Adapters?
You will receive free LED Adapters when ordering ScanBoxpro packages (starting at packs of 48). You can also order additional LED Adapters, via the shop.
How to know a phone requires an LED Adapter?
When downloading the app, it will analyze the device and let the patient know whether an adapter is needed, and which one:
Patient is informed of the need for LED adapter at several steps of the scan:
The DM app must be activated on the scanning phone – monitoring does not need to be started for the app to be able to detect the phone type.
LED Experience must be on and patients must have selected ScanBoxpro.
If patient has selected ScanBox Classic in their settings, they won’t see the LED Experience – even if their phone is impacted. Incorrect settings (LED Experience OFF or Classic ScanBox) will prevent the adapter option and notifications from appearing.
Office staff must walk patients through this.
Adapter messages/links appear only if LED / 3D Experience is ON and ScanBox Pro is selected. If a patient restarts/changes phones and loses the link, reconfirm app activation and scan settings.
Will we be able to see on the patient’s card whether an LED Adapter has been activated?
Yes, there will be a checkbox on the Info tab on the patient card, showing whether the patient is equipped with an LED adapter or not.

How can patients get LED Adapters?
Patient's must have the DM app downloaded - the monitoring doesn’t need to be started for us to detect the need for an LED Adapter. However, the LED Adapter experience must be activated.
Existing patients whose phones require an LED Adapter will see an in-app message explaining the required scan setup, along with a button to request a free LED Adapter. Clicking the button redirects them to the shop experience to order the LED Adapter at no cost. No message will be sent to your practice.
Shipping takes 7-10 business days.
New patients will get their LED Adapter in the practice when getting their ScanBoxpro - as long as your practice has LED Adapters in stock.
