What is ScanAssist?

ScanAssist is a unique scan process that integrates AI to provide patients with guidance & real-time feedback ensuring they consistently take high-quality scans.

What makes ScanAssist Unique?

  • 3D Model following the patient’s movements

  • Patient scans at their own speed

  • Pictures taken at specific points

  • Guidance & real-time feedback

  • Additional step dedicated to occlusion

Traditional Process vs ScanAssist

ScanAssist (V2)

Setup Installation

Assemble ScanBox and tube without guidance

Initial videos guiding ScanBox installation and tube insertion

On-screen display

Video stream from the camera (patient teeth visible)

3D model following patient’s movements in real-time (patient teeth not visible) - mouth opening, rotation & angulation up /down

Speed

Patients need to follow the speed of the progress bar

The patient is the one leading the process (no imposed speed). The app animates the 3D-model to mimic patient’s movements

Pictures

Pictures taken at regular intervals (even if the patient is not in the expected position)

Pictures taken when a specific point is attained (system of targets)

Guidance

Guidance but no real-time feedback

Guidance + real-time feedback. The app provides audio and visual guidance when adjustments are needed

Occlusion

Bite not checked

Additional step dedicated to pictures in occlusion where the bite is checked in real-time + tips to achieve the correct bite

Flow

Double tap to continue

Video guidance repeats until task is completed

Sequence

Aligner in at the end by default

Aligner in first

Availability

Patients

  • Newly created patients (by default) - patients created on or after your activation date

  • Existing patients remain on their current scan process

Device

  • Minimum operating system requirements for ScanAssist: iOS 13 and Android 10

  • For Google Pixel phones or phones with separate camera and flashlight: use Classic ScanBox, cheek retractor, and Version 1 for scanning

Guidance & Feedback

To help patients achieve the right movements, the app offers extra support: if there is no progress after 4 seconds, it shows the patient’s real teeth on screen as a visual aid, prompting them to adjust and stay engaged

Using Key Features & Settings

How to trigger the Pause menu

  • Tap the Setting icon at the top of the screen

OR

  • Remove the tube from the patient’s mouth

How to trigger the Visual Aid

  • Access the Pause menu

  • Tap “Show Teeth Alongside 3D Experience”, make a selection and press Save

TIP💡: Consider setting the “Show Teeth Alongside 3D Experience” to ALWAYS - it helps patients see their movements in real-time

How to trigger Bite Assistance - Bite Registration

  • For patients that cannot bite down completely (for example if the patient has an open bite or bite turbos), instruct the patient to close as much as possible and hold for 4 seconds to allow the AI to detect the bite

How to validate extreme targets

  • For side-to-side views, if patients cannot reach the two furthest targets, they should hold the maximum angle they can comfortably achieve. The targets will automatically validate, and images will be captured at that position

  • For occlusal views, only the furthest target for each arch can be automatically validated

TIP💡: If a target does not validate on occlusal views: turn the “Show Teeth Alongside 3D Experience” ON, as it may be because all teeth are not visible
